  • Contract Data Scientist (12-Month Independent Contractor)

    Scope of Work

    Data Engineering

    • Architect scalable marketing data models (Snowflake / BigQuery)
    • Build and orchestrate ELT pipelines with dbt, Airflow or Fivetran

    Advanced Analytics

    • Develop predictive models (LTV, churn, media-mix, incrementality)
    • Lead lift studies and attribution audits to guide media spend

    Reporting & Visualisation

    • Create self-serve dashboards in Looker or Power BI
    • Automate KPI alerts and executive business reviews

    Marketing Audits

    • Conduct data-driven audits of paid search, social, programmatic & DOOH campaigns
    • Present optimisation roadmaps to internal teams and clients

    Knowledge Transfer

    • Produce clear technical documentation
    • Run hand-off workshops at project milestones

    Estimated effort: up to 80 billable hours per monthly milestone -deliverables and target dates agreed in advance. You choose where, when, and how the work is performed.

    Must-Have Qualifications

    • 3+ years in data-science / analytics roles for marketing or ad-tech

    • Advanced SQL plus Python or R (pandas, scikit-learn / tidyverse)

    • Hands-on experience with cloud warehouses and ELT automation

    • Proven dashboarding skills (Looker, Power BI, or Tableau)

    • Strong grasp of attribution, incrementality, and media-mix modelling

    • Ability to translate statistical findings into clear business insights

    Nice-to-Haves

    • DOOH measurement experience

    • dbt, Airflow, or Dagster workflow management

    • Privacy-centric analytics (GA4 server-side tagging)

    • Familiarity with GCP, AWS, or Azure DevOps environments

    Contract Terms & Compliance (Ontario)

    • Independent Contractor Status – This is a business-to-business engagement. You control your working hours, supply your own equipment, and invoice monthly for services rendered. You are responsible for income taxes, HST, CPP, insurance, and optional WSIB coverage. ESA provisions for overtime, vacation, and termination do not apply.

    • No Exclusivity / Non-Compete – You may serve other clients, provided any conflicts of interest are disclosed.

    • Data Security & Confidentiality – NDA and standard security clauses apply; secure VPN and platform credentials will be supplied.

    Scope of Work:

    Resource Management

    • Own the roadmap for web-dev and systems initiatives (CMS builds, 3D configurators, API integrations)
    • Allocate developers, UX, QA, and DevOps resources; track velocity and capacity

    Process & Quality• Implement and refine Agile/Scrum rituals, CI/CD pipelines, and code-quality gates
    • Establish SLA-driven incident and change-management playbooks

    Systems Architecture Oversight

    • Translate business goals into scalable architectures on AWS/GCP/Azure
    • Coordinate security reviews, backups, disaster-recovery drills

    Vendor & Budget Control

    •Negotiate and manage hosting, SaaS, and licensing contracts
    • Monitor burn-rate; deliver monthly budget vs. actual reports

    Stakeholder Communication

    • Provide exec-level status dashboards and risk logs
    • Facilitate technical hand-offs to client IT teams when projects go live

    Must-Have Qualifications

    • 5+ years in technical operations, program management, or DevOps leadership

    • Hands-on experience managing web-dev & cloud infrastructure teams (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

    • Proven track record rolling out Agile/Scrum processes and CI/CD pipelines

    • Solid understanding of modern web stacks (Jamstack, Node.js, React, or similar) and API security best-practices

    • Financial acumen—can build and manage project P&Ls and SaaS/hosting budgets

    • Stellar communication skills to bridge developers, creatives, and non-technical execs

    Nice-to-Haves

    • Familiarity with 3D/visual-commerce platforms

    • ISO 27001 or SOC 2 compliance experience

    • Jira, Monday.com, or equivalent portfolio-management tooling expertise

    • ITIL or PMP certification
